Evan Bailey Murray, 89, passed away at the Logan Regional Hospital, Tuesday evening, January 29, 1991, following surgery.
He was a lifelong resident of Cache Valley. He was born November 22, 1901 in Wellsville, Utah, the son of William A. and Amanda Bailey Murray. He married Luella Douglas, May 22, 1929, in the Logan LDS Temple. She died in 1987. He graduated from Brigham Young College, Logan in 1924, Utah State Agricultural College in 1927, a Master's Degree from Utah State in 1930 and pursued advanced study at the University of Chicago. He was a teacher in the county schools for ten years, at Park Valley, Portage, Wellsville and Logan High. In 1934 he started teaching until he retired in 1972. A total of 48 years as a teacher. During his tenure at Utah State he served under six presidents and three deans as Professor and Department Head of Economics. He was a member of LDS Church, the original Logan 9th and 21st Wards as a High Priest.He is survived by two children, Roma Murray Anderson, Yucaipa, California; Paul Douglas Murray, Scottsdale, Arizona; son-in-law, Clyde B. Anderson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Reta Olsen, Pocatello, Idaho; Ada Coates, Salt Lake City; one brother, Preston Murray, Tremonton. He was preceded in death eight brothers and 11 half-brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 2, 1991, 11 a.m., Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center. Friends may call Saturday, 9 a.m. till time of service. Burial: Logan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Evan B. Murray's Memory, at the U.S.U. Development Office, Evan B.
