Eleven young people children of workers who lost their lives in industrial accidents - have received $1,000 scholarships from the Workers Compensations Fund of Utah.

The recipients: Shad Brent Christensen, Santaquin, Utah County; Kenneth A. Gentry, Washington, Washington County; Kori Rae Grange, Huntington; Nathan M. Grange; Huntington; Dannielle Harris, Sandy; David N. Hogan, Ogden; Robert L. Langston, Monticello; Rodger T. Martin, Moab; Shane B. Ogden, American Fork; David Jordan Rasmussen, Sandy; Sheree Wilkinson, Glenwood, Sevier County.The fund, which is the largest workers compensation carrier in Utah, established the scholarship in November of last year to benefit children of deceased workers insured by the fund.

"While nothing can make up for the loss of a loved one in an industrial accident," said fund chief executive Blaine Palmer, "we at the fund believe that the scholarship program will provide meaningful assistance and recognition to deserving young people who otherwise might not have the opportunity to pursue higher education or vocational training."
