The Utah State University Institutional Council has approved appointment of Sue H. Guenter-Schlesinger as director of the Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity office.
Guenter-Schlesinger has been at Headquarters, U.S. Army Europe, in Heidelberg, Germany, since 1982, as chief of the equal opportunity program. She served some 200,000 service people and their families.She received a doctorate in higher education administration at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1979.
The council also approved appointment of C. Wayne Smith as acting vice president for administrative affairs, to serve while a replacement is sought for Vice President Evan N. Stevenson, who has retired. Smith has been associate vice president.
Loren Runar Anderson was named head of the civil and environmental engineering department, replacing William J. Grenney, who continues as a professor in the department.
Anderson has been associate dean of the College of Engineering. He was replaced in that office by Alma P. Moser, who has been head of the mechanical engineering department. Moser will continue as acting department head.
