- Hill Air Force Base has confirmed that its F-16 jets are bombing Iraq, roaring into combat from a base somewhere in the Middle East. In initial reports, none of the approximately 50 jets was lost. The Deseret News prints a report written by 1st Lt. Jennifer Fay.

- Allied pilots, who registered a record 3,000 air sorties Thursday, were greeted by another day of clear skies, allowing more heavy bombing in the escalating air campaign against targets in Kuwait and Iraq.- Israel came under a fifth attack from Iraqi Scud missiles Friday and some of them landed in the central part of the country, the Israeli military said.

- The commanders of Iraq's air force and anti-aircraft defense have been executed at the order of Saddam Hussein, an independent Soviet news agency reported, citing "well-informed" sources.

- The latest Utah Army National Guard call-up is hitting Provo in one area it can least afford - law enforcement. Now that the 1457th Engineer Battalion has been placed on alert, the Provo Police Department has lost three full-time and two part-time employees to the crisis.
