Ed McCartney, senior vice prresident of operations services for First Chicago Corporation's Global Corporate Bank, has been named senior vice president and general manager of Fidelity Investments' regional operation center in Salt Lake City.

He succeeds Tom Lawrie, who has been general manager of the center since 1988. Lawrie resigned to pursue other business interests.McCartney is a 1971 graduate of Brigham Young University and also has worked with the Bank of America's trust division in San Francisco and London.

The Salt Lake regional center house of representatives of 11 Fidelity companies, including systems development, telephone operations, insurance, banking and credit cards. It is the only Fidelity facility operating 24 hours per day and handled more than 3 million calls from investors during 1990.
