Two Utah students, John Troy Beatty of Hurricane High School and Mickelle Marston of Carbon High School in Price, have been named delegates to the U.S. Senate Youth Program.

The delegates from all the states will be in Washington, D.C., Feb. 2 to 9 and expect to meet with the president and vice president, as well as congressional representatives.Delegates are selected based on academic and leadership abilities and must be involved in student government to qualify. The selections are made by the chief state school officers, with the responsibility falling to State Superintendent Jay B. Taggart in Utah.

The program is sponsored by the U.S. Senate and the William Randolph Hearst Foundation.
