Friends and colleagues of the late Dr. Leslie Burbidge have established an endowed scholarship in his memory at Southern Utah University.

Burbidge, a Salt Lake native, was a former Cedar City councilman and served the community as a dentist for over 20 years. He died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Salt Lake City on Jan. 8. Burbidge was noted for his community service, and was also an active leader in the LDS Church. He was a recipient of the Jaycees Outstanding Young Men Award and the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award.Scholarships generated by the endowment will be awarded to outstanding students in the School of Science. They will go to pre-dental students selected by the department of biology.
