Dave Brannen set a new BYU record in the pole vault and teammate Per Karlsson dominated the 35-pound weight throw in the BYU Invitational, a non-scored meet.

Brannen, a junior, cleared an NCAA qualifying 17-10.5 to break the old school record of 17-9.5 set in 1987 by Malcolm Hunsaker.Karlsson achieved an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 66-6 last week, but followed that up with a 67-4 to lead BYU to six of the top seven places in the 35-pound weight throw.

Former Olympic miler Doug Padilla won the mile in 4:07.2.
