The fifth annual Heart Ball, benefiting the American Heart Association, Utah Affiliate, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Little America Hotel grand ballroom.
With the theme "An Affair of the Heart," the evening will begin at 6:30 with a social hour and silent auction. Dinner will be at 7:30 p.m., followed by a program and dancing. Tickets are $50 single, $100 per couple, and patron tables seating eight may be purchased for $1,000 or more. Shelley Thomas of KSL-Ch. 5 news will emcee the evening's events.Proceeds from the Heart Ball will be used to support research, education and community service programs of the American Heart Association - programs that have reduced the death rate from heart disease about 30 percent over the past decade.
For the first time, the Utah Beef Council will be a major corporate sponsor of the ball, providing heart-healthy cuts of lean beef for the dinner. "We welcome the support and involvement of the Utah Beef Council," said Cindy Collins, chairperson of the Heart Ball volunteer committee.
The committee also includes Jay Mason, M.D., honorary chairperson; and Dorothy Anderson, Betsy Bradley, Virginia Burgess, Pat Button, Jean Calvert, Florence Christensen, Ingie Lignell, Gloria Forcht, Marge Jensen, Alice Larkin, Carole Montmorency, Diane Moore, JoNell Quinton and Irene Warr.
