Our loving husband, father, brother and friend, John FordPorter, Jr., age 72, passed away peacefully Jan. 26, 1991, at hishome in Salt Lake City, after a long illness.

He was born Jan. 9, 1919, in Centerville Utah, to John Ford, Sr. and Emily Hannah Wright Porter. He married Ruth Petereit onMarch 24, 1957, in Wells, Nevada; later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. John attended the Davis County Schools and graduated from Davis High School.He worked for the Porter-Walton Co. for over 45 years. He was an outstanding and avid gardener and fisherman, agreat sports fan and an expert handy man. An active High Priest in the LDS Church, he held many positions of service over the years.Also, a former member of the S.U.P. John's greatest joy was his family and was noted for his kind and gentle ways with them and to all.

Survived by his wife Ruth; and son, Brad Porter, both of Salt Lake City. Also surviving is a brother, Rodney W. (wife Maxine) Porter, Holladay; and a sister Ruth (husband, Frank) Rich, Morgan, Utah.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29th, 1:00 pm, at the Canyon Rim First Ward 3051 South 2900 East, with Bishop Bruce McDonough officiating. Friends may call Monday, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services.
