A pro-Iranian suicide driver detonated his explosives-laden car Friday near an Israeli convoy in southern Lebanonm but the soldiers escaped with minor wounds, security sources said.

The sources said the assailant detonated his Renault, packed with 220 pounds of explosives, along the Khardali bridge on the edge of the central sector of the Israeli-declared "security zone" in southern Lebanon.The driver's apparent target was a convoy of Israeli military cars driving along the road, the sources said. The driver of the suicide car was killed immediately, but none of his intended targets was hurt, the security sources said.

The pro-Iranian Islamic Resistance claimed responsibility for the attack.
