A Salt Lake youth who was accidentally shot in the neck Tuesday was in serious condition in LDS Hospital Wednesday.

Salt Lake police said Anthony Patrick, 14, address unknown, was playing with a 12-year-old friend at 463 E. Wilson (1770 South) Tuesday afternoon when a .22-caliber pistol discharged. Patrick was struck in the back of the neck, said Lt. Roy Wasden.Police initially were told that the boys were standing on the porch of the residence when three shots were fired from an unknown direction. It later was determined that the shooting occurred inside the house.

Wasden said it was unclear how the gun discharged and that an investigation is continuing.
