Jeffery Ranches of Fremont is the recipient of Wayne County's Conservation Farmer of the Year Award, presented by the Fremont River Soil Conservation District.

The ranching enterprise is owned by Garn Jeffery, his sons Michael and Thomas, and a daughter, Jessie Pace.The Jefferys were acknowledged for conservation tillage, efficient sprinkler irrigation, insect control and proper grazing management on private leased properties and federal rangeland. They have been active in state and federal conservation farming and ranching programs and have adopted practices that protect and enhance the resources they manage.

In presenting the award, Richard Pace, conservation district chairman, said the recipients have "contributed to the human resources of our valley as well as protect the natural resources. We are proud to honor them for their stewardship."
