Salomon (Sam) V. Duran, age 78, died January 20, 1991, in a Price hospital.
Born May 12, 1912, Parkview, New Mexico, son of Mauricio and Victoria Vialpando Duran. Married Lupita G. Gonzales Sept. 5, 1932, Lumberton, Colorado. Member, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society. Former employee, U.S. Steel Horse Canyon Mine. Retired member, UMWA Local #8003. Enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Loved by everyone for his rich sense of humor. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, he will be dearly missed by everyone.Survived by his wife, East Carbon City; two daughters and spouses, Genevieve and Gilbert Sandoval, Mary and Cardell Mortensen, all Price; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; also survived by two sisters, one brother, Mercy Boney, Pueblo, Colorado; Veronica Sandoval, California; Louis Duran, Denver, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be Thursday, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church, East Carbon City. Vigil service Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the church. Friends may call at Mitchell's. Family will be at the church Wednesday, 6 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m., prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
