Val J. Hallstrom, beloved father, grandfather an brother, age 58, passed away January 19, 1991 peacefully in a Salt Lake hospital after a 18 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones.

Born February 14, 1932 in Salt Lake City to Carlyle J. and Velma Post Hallstrom. Married Margaret (Peggy) Black June 12, 1956 in New Delhi, India; later divorced.Joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951 after serving a short time in the U.S. National Guard. During his tour of duty, he received the Korean Service, U.N. Service, National Defense and Korean P.U.C. medals. Discharged from the Marine Corps in 1959 at the rank of S/Sgt., he had served his country proudly.

He worked for Hercules in 1961-64 and the Dept. of Defense (DCASD) from 1964 to 1980.

He is survived by a daughter, Kim and a very special son-in-law, Jerry W. Prescott; son, Jay C.; and granddaughter, Andrea, all of Sandy; brother, Don C. Hallstrom, Moreno Valley, Calif.

In keeping with his wishes, a memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 1991 at 1 p.m., at Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church, 4615 South 3200 West, WVC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
