Zelpha Leon Vowles Hardman, age 89, passed away January 18, 1991 in Sandy, Utah.

She was born December 16, 1901 in Tooele, Utah to Herbert and Mary Adeline Vowles. She married Jesse Christensen Hardman on November 24, 1926. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 18, 1953. He passed away on March 4, 1968.Zelpha was an active member of the LDS Church having served as Relief Society and Primary President, as well as holding many auxiliary positions. She also served an extraction mission for the church, and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Zelpha's greatest love in life was her family. Her arms and heart were always open for grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Little children were the light of her life. " her wealth were her children."

She is survived by three sons and six daughters, Darhl Wall, Cedar City; Dale J. (Thelma) Hardman, Salt Lake City; Richard W. (Joyce) Hardman, Kearns; Mrs. Ross (Barbara) Taylor, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Bill (Leah) Nelson, Sandy; Mrs. George (Helen) Stanger, Tacoma, Wash.; Alvin H. (Carolyn) Hardman, Koosharem; Mrs. Boyd (Marilyn) Shaw, Midvale; Mrs. Pete (Carla) Vietti, Sandy; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Wilson (Betty) Harris, Sandy; 36 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lynn Vowles, Salt Lake City; Ned Vowles, Bountiful; sister, Mrs Norman (Bernice) Adamson, Tooele. She is also survived by a special "adopted" family, Rex and Karen Wood and daughters. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Gyneth and Gladys; and a son, LeRoy.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 1991, at 11 a.m., in the Wasatch 5th Ward, 8100 South Top of the World Drive (3675 E.). Friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, and Tuesday, at the ward, 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Tooele City Cemetery, 361 South 1st East.
