Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Wells W. Smith, age 79 passed away January 19, 1991 at St. Marks Hospital.
Born November 15, 1911 in St. George, Utah to Nathaniel Libby Smith and Leah Whitehead. Married Rhea Jarrell, June 24, 1935 in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, June 12, 1939. Rhea and Wells were married for 55 years. Retired from Mountain Fuel Supply in 1974 as head of their engineering dept. Graduated from LDS School, graduated in civil engineering from the U or U. Wells loved his church and his family above all. He was an active member of the LDS Church as a high priest. He worked his entire married life at MFS, he also was one of the states leading patent drawers. He loved to square dance and served as President from 1962-63 of the Prominaders, which was the first square dance club to start beginners dancing. Member of the Tri Valley State Square Dance Group. Member of "Bussells and Bows" in Provo and member of the "Gad a Bouts".Survived by his loving wife, Rhea, children, Mrs. Sharon Lee (husband, Michael) Amott, Mrs. Cathy Rae (husband, Bob) Walton, all Salt Lake; Orvell Kent and wife, Saundra Smith, Cedar City; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Robert Farr and wife, Rae Ellen Smith, and Wayne Nathaniel and wife, Virginia Smith, all Salt Lake; sister, Mrs. Patricia (husband, David) Cobia, North Dakota. Preceded in death by a son, grandson and his parents.
Funeral services, Wednesday, January 23, 11 a.m. at the Winder 8th Ward, 4360 So. 1500 East. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Mackay Deseret Mortuary at Lake Hills, 10055 So. State Street, Sandy, and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment, Mackay Lake Hills Memorial Park.
