Pfc. Lorien Strohl likes to be asked what she was doing when the war started. It has special meaning for her and her sergeant husband.
The couple was sent to Saudi Arabia in November. This week, Strohl is back home because the day allied forces first bombed Baghdad, she learned she was pregnant."I conceived somewhere around Thanksgiving," Strohl said Monday. "I had been away for six months before that at basic training."
Strohl, 20, and her husband, Paul, also 20, are in the 313th Military Police Detachment, deployed to the gulf Nov. 7.
The Army usually doesn't give pregnant soldiers leave until they're in their third month. But she was sent back because of the threat of war and chemical weapons, Strohl said.
