One of two men who suffered electrical shock last week has improved from critical to serious condition, while a second victim remains in critical and unstable condition at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake.
The condition of Johnny Wakamatsu, 70, Pleasant Grove, was upgraded, while Steven Blake, 21, Provo, is still critical. Both suffered third-degree electrical burns Aug. 10 during an accident in northwest Provo. Two other victims injured in the accident have been released from the hospital.Wakamatsu was injured while he and a fellow worker were installing a sign at 225 W. 2230 North. While Wakamatsu was placing equipment in a truck, police said, the truck's boom-type ladder made contact with a 7,200-volt power line.
Wakamatsu was knocked unconscious by electrical shock, and when Blake, a passer-by who stopped to help, attempted to pull him clear of the area, he too was shocked.
