Temperatures dropped to a freezing 7 degrees above zero early Monday in the Salt Lake area as breezy winds moved out of the canyons.
High readings on the thermometer weren't expected to exceed the 25- to 30-degree range Monday. Monday night the temperature will drop to between 5 and 10 degrees in the Salt Lake, Ogden and Provo area.A dry, cold northeast flow will continue over northern Utah through Tuesday. It will be sunny again Tuesday but with increasing valley haze, and the high will be near 30, according to the Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service.
Bill Cope, a weather specialist, said that as of 6 a.m. Monday the temperature had dropped to minus 4 at Green River, Emery County; 6 at Cedar City; 3, Richfield; 16, Price; 20, Wendover; and 3, Alta. Considering wind-chill factors, the temperature was a minus 17 at 9 a.m. Monday at Hill Air Force Base.
