The government ordered Monday the expulsion of an Iraqi diplomat implicated in an attempted bombing of a U.S. facility that wound up killing the suspected Iraqi bomber and wounding his accomplice.

The first secretary of the Iraqi Embassy, Mowafaq Al Ani, was told to leave within 72 hours in a diplomatic note handed by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Manuel Yan to Iraqi Ambassador Ali Sumaida.Al Ani denied Sunday that the embassy was involved in the bombing.
