About 80 Utah business and government managers will participate in a seminar Tuesday, Jan. 22, in the Marriott Hotel to learn how the new Clean Air Act, signed into law recently by President Bush, will impact their operations.

The seminar is co-sponsored by the law firm of Davis, Graham & Stubbs and the engineering consulting firm of Dames & Moore.James A. Holtkamp, an environmental lawyer with the law firm, said the legislation will have a tremendous impact in the Salt Lake area. The changes will not only impact large "smokestack" industries like Geneva and Kennecott, but small business like dry cleaners, printers and similar operations.

Industries and businesses that have been regulated in the past will face strict controls under the new legislation. The changes also will have substantial impacts on businesses that have not been regulated in the past because they have not been considered significant emitters.
