A "peace ship" with medicine and baby food for Iraq reached the Libyan port of Tobruk Saturday after being turned back from the Suez Canal, a Tunisian trade union that chartered the vessel said.

The 3,000-ton Balkis, which loaded its cargo in Algiers, Tunis and Tripoli, was refused permission to sail through the canal by Egyptian authorities, the Arab Mahgreb Labor Union said. The Balkis's voyage was the second attempt to sail to Iraq. A first ship, with 250 women aboard, reached Iraq shortly before war broke out Thursday.
