Two Orem men remain in the Utah County Jail on charges stemming from racially motivated attacks Saturday, Jan. 12.
Lewis Ivie, 20, and Travis Martin, 21, were arrested after two men were beaten in separate incidents in northeast Orem. Ivie and Martin appeared in 4th Circuit Court in Orem on Tuesday.Ivie is charged with aggravated assault, assault and drunken driving. Martin is charged with aggravated assault, assault, drunken driving, giving false information to an officer, driving on a revoked license, having an open container in a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and having an expired vehicle registration.
Judge Lynn Davis set a preliminary hearing for Ivie and Martin for Jan. 23. Davis reduced bail for the two from $200,000 each to $10,000 cash only.
Orem Police spokesman Gerald Nielsen said his department has also turned over information from the case to federal prosecutors for further investigation.
