The Utah Automobile Dealers Association inducted the late John S. Hinckley into its Hall of Fame Thursday prior to the opening of the fifth annual Utah Auto Show.

Hinckley began his career in the automobile industry in 1948 when he became president of his father's automobile business, Robert H. Hinckley Inc. Throughout his career he actively participated in the professional growth of the automobile industry.Hinckley served as the Utah representative to the National Automobile Dealers Association for nine years and in 1962 was president of the Utah association. In 1973 he was president of NADA.

UADA officials said Hinckley took a strong personal interest in serving and improving the community. "His lifetime philosophy was that involvement is essential to the development of the community, and he gave much of his time, expertise and energy to a number of organizations," they said. In recognition of Hinckley's dedication and commitment to the automobile industry, he received the "Time Quality Dealer Award" in 1976.
