Two Utah counties are eligible for drought disaster assistance through the Small Business Administration, officials said.

District Director Stan Nakano said that small, non-farm business owners in Box Elder and Cache counties are eligible to apply for federal assistance because of losses from the 1990 drought. He said small, non-farm businesses that suffered economic losses during the drought are eligible to apply for loans of up to $500,000 to meet obligations.

So-called "Main Street" businesses and farm cooperatives in the two counties may qualify for the loans of up to 30 years.

Eligibility is restricted to agri-dependent businesses, but the program does not apply to nurseries, said a statement from the SBA.
