The Salt Lake Golden Eagles ended a two-game sweep of the Blades in Kansas City Friday night with a 1-0 shutout victory.

The only goal of the game was scored by Salt Lake's Marc Bureau when he intercepted a pass from Kansas City defenseman Link Gaetz intended for Mike Berger, picked the puck up inside his own blue line and went the length of the rink to beat Blades' goalie Wade Flaherty with a wrist shot from in close.Goalie Warren Sharples had his first professional shutout for the Eagles, who improved to 24-19-3 on the season, making 33 saves.

Sharples' play prompted Eagles' coach Bobby Francis to comment, "I thought Warren was outstanding tonight. He really shut Kansas City down . . . came up with the big stop when we needed it."

Kansas City had a powerplay opportunity to tie the game late when defenseman Ken Sabourin picked up a highsticking penalty with just 2:21 remaining, but the Eagles fought the Blades off.

The Eagles play the Phoenix Roadrunners tonight.
