Weber State University men's tennis coach, Keith Cox, has announced that senior Dermot Sweeney, the number one singles player for the Wildcats, has been selected to represent his country of Zambia on its Davis Cup team. Sweeney becomes the first player in Wildcat tennis history to play on a Davis Cup team. Zambia is scheduled to face Cameroon in the opening round, February 1-3.

"It's a great honor for Dermot," said Cox. "He's coming off an injury sustained last fall, but his game is getting into high gear. His victory over Utah's Chris Entzel in (Wednesday's) dual match, shows he is back in shape and ready to have an outstanding year."Sweeney played number singles for the Wildcats last season as a junior, and finished second in the Big Sky Conference men's championships.
