A bomb threat prompted Utah State University President Stanford Cazier to evacuate students, faculty and staff from the campus just before noon Thursday.

An unidentified individual called the campus about 11 a.m. Thursday and said a bomb would go off at 1 p.m. at an undesignated building on campus, followed by bombs every hour thereafter, said university spokesman Cliff Cahoon.Cahoon didn't know who received the call. Campus police weren't releasing any information at noon, other than confirming the campus had been closed for the day.

While USU officials didn't know who made the threat, a Logan police spokesman said university administration had talked with law enforcement officials two days ago about closing the university because of possible bomb threats and that the university had six Iranian students under surveillance.
