Former Salt Lake Tribune regional editor Ernest P. Hoff, 72, has died of complications from cancer.

Mr. Hoff was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Georgetown, Idaho, and reared in Idaho, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles.During World War II, Mr. Hoff served as a meteorologist for the Army Air Corps. He worked for the Deseret News, the Ontario (Calif.) Herald and the Times-News in Twin Falls, Idaho, before joining the Salt Lake Tribune in 1954.

Viewing and funeral will be Friday evening and Saturday morning, respectively, at Larkin Mortuary. Burial will be at Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, Idaho.
