Oncology patients at Primary Children's Medical Center color heartfelt art Tuesday on custom-designed skis. The skis, donated by Evolution Ski Co., will be a prize at this weekend's Senators Ski Cup, a race that benefits charity care at the children's hospital. Steve Denkers, owner of Evolution, said the company has hired artists in the past to produce special-edition skis for the race, but asked patient artists to do the design work this year. Event promoter Jake Garn, R-Utah, may be the only senator in attendance, with most lawmakers choosing to stay in Washington during the Middle East crisis. Vice President Dan Quayle and White House chief of staff John Sununu were confirmed no-shows. Seventeen other senators scheduled to take part in the event beginning Thursday were taking a wait-and-see approach, Garn said.
