John Gordon Reed, 50, died January 14, 1990, at his home.

Born May 14, 1940, Las Vegas, Nevada to John E. and Amy Jane Kemple Reed. Married LouVerda Mackelprang, Fresno, California, in 1957. He was a journeyman iron worker in the Ornamental, Bridge and Structural Iron Workers of America Local 27, for 30 years. He filled many positions within his craft from his love of connecting to foreman and superintendent of many projects. Active until his retirement in 1985. His great loves included hunting, fishing and rodeo. He loved to teach and help boys in baseball, football, and rodeo. He took his Union WBBA Allstars all the way to the WBBA World Series in Idaho Falls in 1967, finishing second. He built an arena at his home in Elmo that was freely used by several riding clubs in Emery County. His family was always paramount in all of his endeavors and goals.He is survived by his wife, LouVerda, Elmo; children, John Brad and Geri Lyn, Orangeville; Bert W. "Bill" and Christy, Sherrie Lou and Kirk Hansen, all of Elmo; Ronald C. and Michelle, Price; six grandchildren; mother, Amy Ballance, South Jordan; father, John E. Reed and his wife, Kathleen, California; brothers and sisters, James Reed, Oregon; Karen Breeze, Cheryl Lenarz, both of South Jordan; Pattie Hendricks, Las Vegas; Cathy Rogers, West Jordan.

He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all those with whom he associated.

Services Friday, January 18, 11 a.m., Fausett Mortuary in Price, 680 East 100 South, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial: Elmo Cemetery.
