HealthTrust Inc., Nashville, Tenn., parent company of Lakeview Hospital, 630 E. Medical Drive, ended its third year of operation with increased net operating revenue and improved operating margins.

Net operating revenues for fiscal 1990 were $1.8 billion, an 11.3 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Operating margins for the company also improved as expenses increased at rates below the growth in net revenues, said R. Clayton McWhorter, chairman of HealthTrust.During 1990, HealthTrust refinanced its bank debt and increased the amount of available bank credit from $515 million to $615 million. McWhorter said the company now has more flexibility to make selected acquisitions and capital improvements at its existing facilities.

He said HealthTrust's strong performance has been good for Lakeview Hospital. In the last year a new emergency department was completed, a general surgeon and orthopedic surgeon were recruited, and ultrasound equipment for the radiology services was purchased.
