A Salt Lake man convicted of taking women's money after becoming their friend pleaded guilty Friday in 4th District Court to a third-degree theft-by-deception charge.

Gerald A Soderquist, 36, will be sentenced Feb. 8 by Judge Boy L. Park. Soderquist's activities have been the subject of two television documentaries. Deputy county attorney Phil Hadfield said Soderquist has a history of depleting the finances of women after winning their trust. He is wanted on polygamy charges in Colorado.Upon Hadfield's request, Soderquist is being held in the Utah County Jail on $10,000 bail.
