Taking corporate executives on a river trip is a much better way to reach businessmen than by having them read a brochure or look at a magazine advertisement.
With that in mind, several corporate executives will take a trip on the Colorado River next week with Gov. Norm Bangerter; Sens. Jake Garn, R-Utah, and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah; Snowbird owner Dick Bass and David W. Adams, Utah Department of Community and Economic Development executive director.Kirk Green, director of urban development in the Utah Division of Business and Economic Development, said, "Once we get these people in the state it is easy to convince them to do business here."
Accompanying the politicians will be top-level corporate executives who either have recently expanded their operations to Utah or are in negotiations with Utah officials about expanding into the state.
In addition to state involvement with the river trip Monday through Wednesday, officials of Moab, Grand County and Del Webb Corp., concessionaire at Lake Powell, will help host the event.
A reception Sunday at Snowbird hosted by Bass will be a prelude to the river run, Green said.
