Sen. Jake Garn admits the "senators" mentioned in the title of his annual Ski Cup races might not be plural this year.

But Garn, R-Utah, says the fifth annual event will go on, even if he is the only federal legislator on the slopes.Vice President Dan Quayle, 20 senators, and several presidential Cabinet members were expected to hit Park City slopes for grudge matches Friday and Saturday. But with the threat of war looming in the Persian Gulf, some might not make the trip, Garn said.

The challenge races raise money for a good cause, Garn said, that of charity care at Primary Children's Medical Center.
