A 21-year-old Lewiston man has been given a zero-to-five-year prison term on his guilty plea to a reduced count of automobile homicide.

Ampelio T. Soto was the driver of a car involved in an accident north of Logan Sept. 22 that claimed the life of Paulette Savage, 25, a Logan resident.The arrest was made by North Park Police Chief Paul LaMont, who said Soto's blood-alcohol level exceeded the legal limit.

Soto had been held in the Cache County Jail since November, when he pleaded guilty after the charge against him was reduced from a second- to a third-degree felony.

During the Thursday sentencing, 1st District Judge Gordon Low also ordered Soto to pay a $1,000 fine and an additional $120 for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, a misdemeanor.
