In a late Friday night game, Southern Utah shot a sizzling 77 percent from the field in the first half and went on to score a lopsided 125-67 victory over Colorado College.
The independent Thunderbirds (10-5) hit 24 of 31 field goal attempts in the first half to run up a 58-31 advantage over the Division III independent Tigers (5-10). Colorado College, which was hurt all night by SUU's superior quickness, struggled with 36 percent shooting in the first half.Seven players from the 10-member SUU squad scored in double figures. Senior guard-forward Pete Johnson led the T-Birds with 23. while Rex Brimhall added 21 and Dana Achtzehn 19. Tony Valencia scored 17 to pace the Tigers.
