Competing without the services of four divers and a standout freestyler, BYU's women's swim team failed to win first place in any event at the Arizona State Swimming and Diving Championships Friday and Saturday, but did manage to notch eight second places.

The hosting Lady Sun Devils won the meet with 1081 points, followed by Bowling Green 965, BYU 689 and Utah 297.Earning second places for BYU were Shannon Hair (100 fly, 59.22), K.C. Cline (100 back, 1:00.20), Laurel Hill (3m diving 394.90), Lara Rogers (200 IM, 2:11.58), Alissa Tribe (200 fly, 2:13.27), Kathy Doman (50 free (24.29), and the 200 free relay and 400 medley relay squads.

Missing were BYU All-American divers Courtney Nelson and Amy Matheson, together with Vanessa Bergman and Valerie Hale, who were competing at the All-American Diving Meet at the University of Texas this weekend, and freestyler Jody Morehouse who is returning to Provo from New Zealand.
