Richey Reneberg joined the growing list of American withdrawals from the Australian Open on Sunday due to tendinitis in his right shoulder.

Reneberg, ranked 23rd in the world but not seeded for the Open, said the injury flared up during this week's Rio Challenge exhinition tournament in Adelaide.Reneberg is the third top American male player to pull out of the opening Grand Slam tournament of the year.

U.S. Open champion Pete Sampras withdrew on Saturday, citing a shin injury, and John McEnroe withdrew last week with a shoulder injury.
