The Granite Association of School Administrators has honored three of its members for outstanding work.
Morris Goates, was selected among elementary school administrators. He has served in the district as a teacher and staff assistant supervising science instruction. He was principal of David Gourley Elementary and currently serves at Howard R. Driggs Elementary. He is past president of the Utah Science Teachers Association and receive an award in 1981 as the top science teacher.Richard Haacke, principal at Kearns High School, was honored in the secondary school category. He also has been a teacher and then worked as a counselor and as assistant principal at Kennedy Junior High and Cyprus High before becoming principal at Kearns. He was cited by staff members for going out of his way to show appreciation.
Patricia Gurr was honored for her work in the central office. She has been director of adult and community education since 1986. She administers several special programs. She began as a teacher at Cottonwood Elementary and initiated the school's community school program. She formerly was head of the district's community relations program.
