Darrow Dean McCarthy, 70, passed away January 9, 1990.

Born November 18, 1920, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Oscar C. and Lula Miller McCarthy. Married E. Bernita Tanner, August 4, 1944, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Darrow resided in both Utah and California, but spent most of his life in California; the last 8 years in Hemet. He received a masters degree from the University of Utah in Educational Psychology and Administration. Darrow was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a High School Principal for the Board of Education in both Utah and California. Active member of the LDS Church, he held many positions of service over the years, including being the coordinator of the Extraction Program in his area.Survivors include his wife, Bernita, Hemet, Calif.; three sons, Delwin K. (wife, Kay) McCarthy, also Hemet, Lynn (wife, Sharon) McCarthy of Sandy, Utah; and Marvin (wife, Bonnie) McCarthy of Elverta, Calif.; two daughters, Nora (husband, Ron) Barlow of Ervine, Calif.; and Arlene (husband, Kent) Goates of New Canaan, CT; 32 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister. Preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 16th, 11:30 a.m. at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 So. 2300 East, where friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8:30 and on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Interment: Mnt. View Memorial Estates. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Funeral Chapel.
