Thurlyn Roy "Papa Chris" Christensen, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 10, 1991.
born July 7, 1923 in Moroni, Utah, son of Ernest LeRoy and Marguerite Christensen. Married Catherine May Taylor and her daughters, Terry Lee, Carol Ann and Susan Ray, on July 10, 1953. A fourth daughter, Linda Kay was born in 1955. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, WW II and the Korean Conflict. He retired form C.W. Silvers company, where he worked for many years as an electromechanic. He was active in the Scouting, Sunday School and Mutual programs in the Kearns North Stake 5th Ward. He loved life to its fullest and enjoyed numerous hobbies. Some of his favorite were tending his garden and feeding his birds. He was a master woodcrafter and woodcarver. He had an innate love for the mountains and was happiest there. His family was his pride and joy, as were all those who called him " Papa Chris."Survived by wife, Catherine, West Valley City; his loving children, Terry and Dennis Woodbrey, Salt Lake City; Carol and Philip English, West Valley City; Susan and John Nelson, Logan; Linda and Albert Gomez, Burbank, Calif.; nine grandchildren; one sister, Madge Otteson, Nephi; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m. at the McDougal Golden Rule Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where friends may call Sunday, 6-8 p.m. and Monday, 1-1:40 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
