Friday night's biggest surprise belonged to the Alta Hawks, which upset top-ranked Cottonwood 58-57 in overtime in Region 2 play.

Justin Barlow scored 21 points - and five of Alta's eight 3-pointers - while Ryan Dixon added 16 points, as the Hawks improved to 2-0 in the league and 8-3 overall. Alta remains the only league team with an unbeaten region record.Seth Miller led the Colts (2-1, 9-2) with 23 points, while Justin Weidauer added 19.

Region 1

Viewmont 60, Roy 47: Jason Hynek led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points for the fifth-ranked Vikings. Viewmont (3-0, 9-2) claimed its eighth consecutive victory; Roy (1-2, 2-9) was led by Eric Shiffman's 13 points.

Weber 76, Layton 67: John Calvert shot 6-of-6 from the line in the last 90 seconds while Ryan Jones scored a team-high 21 points for Weber (2-1, 7-4). Lance Dunkley had a game-high 26 points for Layton (0-4, 1-11).

Region 2

East 60, Skyline 49: Josh Creer scored 12 and Cory Stewart 11 to lead East (1-2, 6-6). Jaron Boone's 16 points were high for Skyline (0-3, 5-5).

Highland 67, Brighton 57: The fifth-ranked Rams bounced back from their midweek loss to Olympus, as Kerry Hicks scored 17 points for Highland (1-1, 7-3). Alex Fisher led Brighton (1-2, 7-4) with 21 points.

Region 3

Cyprus 71, Granger 43: The Pirates held the Lancers to single-digit scoring in the first and third quarters. Ev Matagi scored 16 points and Cade Osborn added 13 for Cyprus (3-2, 6-5). Keith Sigmagna's 10 points were high for Granger (1-4, 1-10).

Bingham 75, Kearns 33: Jason Woodbury's 13 points led the four Miners who scored in double figures, while the Cougars as a team scored in double digits in only one period - 10 points in the second. Shane Tingey, Jeff Nielsen and Barry Fullmer also scored 10 each for Bingham (3-2, 5-6); Rob Taft's 9 points paced Kearns (0-5, 0-9).

Hillcrest 59, Hunter 49: Trailing 24-22 at halftime, the third-ranked Huskies outscored the Wolverines 37-25 in the second half. Brian Kelley scored 15 and John Owen added 13 for Hillcrest (4-1, 9-2). Eric Norman scored 17 to led Hunter (2-3, 2-9).

Taylorsville 39, West Jordan 37: The Warriors rebounded from a 14-8 first-period deficit to outscore the Jaguars 14-9 and 10-6 in the middle two periods. Scott DeBenedictus' 10 points paced Taylorsville (4-1, 7-4) to its fifth straight win. Doug Mabey's 9 points was high for West Jordan (3-2, 4-7).

Region 4

Mountain View 78, Pleasant Grove 46: After trailing 15-12 at the end of the first period, the Bruins outscored the Vikings 20-9, 18-12 and 28-10 in the final three periods. Ryan Lewis and Jeremy Sink tied for team-high honors with 16 points each for Mountain View (2-1, 7-4); Danny Robinson was tops with 12 for PG (0-3, 8-6).

Provo 80, American Fork 50: After jumping out to a 22-11 lead after the first quarter, the fourth-ranked Bulldogs extended the damage by outscoring the Cavemen 18-4 in the second period. Terence Saluone and Kip Rollins each scored 20 - the latter hit four treys - for Provo (3-0, 11-1). Nate Jones led American Fork (0-3, 5-7) with 12 points.

Timpview 65, Orem 63: After falling behind 55-47 after three periods, the T-birds outscored the Tigers 18-8 in the final quarter. Paul Disbrow, Richard Jackson and Bob Bearnson all scored in double figures for Timpview (3-0, 14-0). Bryan Rasmussen and Tyler Nelson finished with 17 and 16 points, respectively for Orem (1-2, 7-5).

Region 7

Lehi 66, Carbon 59: John Chamberlain led Lehi (1-2, 3-10) with 18 points. Carbon (1-2, 1-7) had a 32-point effort from Curtis Cook.

Region 11

Mount Vernon 95, West Desert 39: Marlin Denning scored 20 points and teammates Matt Carson and Pablo Rivera contributed 17 and 16, respectively for the Patriots (2-3, 2-4). West Desert dropped to 0-6 in the region.

Intermountain Christian 82, Manila 74: Jeremy Heiser scored 31 points and Neil Smith 26 for the Lions (3-1, 6-4).
