"Mummies and Magic: The Funerary Arts of Ancient Egypt" may be seen at the Museum of Fine Arts here Sept. 14-Dec. 11.

The exhibition features more than 300 objects, ranging in date from the Predynastic Period (before 3000 B.C.) through the advent of Christianity. The museum says, "The exhibition presents, through the mummies themselves, a history of the mummification process and the beliefs and practices governing it, dispelling many of the myths that have evolved around mummies as mysterious, supernatural beings. The mummies will reveal a great deal about ancient values, beliefs and practices."
