Two Utah County youths are dead following a discharge of weapons in Spanish Fork Canyon Friday afternoon.
The identities of the boys - a 16-year-old from Provo and a 14-year-old from Spanish Fork - will not be released until notification of next of kin.Utah County Sheriff Department officials were called to the Thistle Slide Basin area when passers-by spotted the boys and notified authorities, who are investigating the case as a possible double suicide.
Both youths were transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where they died during treatment.
During transport, the ambulance carrying the boys was involved in a collision with a pickup truck near the Spanish Fork Warehouse Market, 795 E. 800 North.
Both boys were quickly transferred to another ambulance. The accident is being investigated by the Utah Highway Patrol.
