Police shot and killed a looter Friday and unidentified gunmen killed three other people selling black market U.S. currency, officials said.

Violence has claimed the lives of at least 75 people since government troops Monday crushed a coup attempt by a former member of the Duvalier regime.Police opened fire on a group of people stealing merchandise from a burned out grocery store in downtown Port-Au-Prince, authorities said. One man was killed, but he was not identified.

Later, people selling U.S. currency were fired upon by unidentified gunmen in two jeeps, police said. Three people were killed and two others were wounded.
