A co-worker discovered Mabe's body lying in the office at Timesaver Industrial, 1515 S. Pioneer Road (2350 West), as he arrived to work on the morning of Dec. 5.Court documents indicated the body was covered with blood and several police officers said it was one of the worst beatings they had ever seen.
Police said Gary Mabe routinely accompanied his wife to work early each morning, helped her perform janitorial tasks and then left for his own job. The defendant was interviewed Jan. 7 and told detectives he struck his wife with a metal bar and later with a pipe wrench, according to court documents filed in 3rd Circuit Court.
He is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail. Bail was set at $150,000.
