Ardis Elaine Smart Matz, age 63, died January 7, 1991 in a Salt Lake hospital following a long illness.
The second of three daughters, Ardis was born September 24, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur F. and Mildred Pavlik Smart. She moved with her family to Salt Lake City where she attended the University of Utah, worked as a buyer for ZCMI, and later for Van Waters & Rogers and Merrill-Lynch. Her varied interests and abilities, combined with her independence, led her to San Francisco to pursue an education and a career in drafting, working for EDS Nuclear in San Francisco, and then for Coon, King & Knowlton in Salt Lake. Prior to her retirement in 1989, Ardis worked for the Reno Chapter of the March of Dimes, an association she very much enjoyed. Member of the First Congregational Church.Survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kerry S. and Chris Carson Matz, Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Celeste Matz Rosell and husband Robert; Charlyn Matz; and Christopher Phillip Matz; all Salt Lake City; sisters, Constance M. Allen, Rochester Hills, Michigan; and Joan Peterson, Granada Hills, California.
Funeral services on Saturday, January 12th, at 11 am, Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to: The March of Dimes - Reno Chapter, 3100 Mill Street # 117, Reno, NV 89502.
