Burglars broke into the Weber State College football team's locker room and stole 29 jerseys and numerous other articles of athletic clothing worth $2,300, Lee Cassity, chief of campus security, said.

Campus police found no signs of forced entry into the building, Cassity said, but locker room locks were broken and one sliding door to the equipment room was forced open, apparently between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.The thieves took 19 purple jerseys and 10 white jerseys with purple stripes, he said. They also stole 13 pairs of silver football pants with purple and white stripes, $200 worth of football cleats, 15 sweat pants, 12 sweat tops, and 82 new pairs of socks.
